Woodlawn - Over 128 Years of Permanent Care

Woodlawn Cemetery was established in 1881 to provide a picturesque cemetery for the growing Syracuse community. Today, Woodlawn continues this tradition of serving the public. Started as a traditional cemetery, Woodlawn has always focused on providing a well maintained space for remembering family and friends. Through the years Woodlawn, a not-for-profit cemetery, has met the needs of a changing community. In the mid 1970's, Woodlawn built the first garden mausoleum in Central New York. Today, with over 8,000 crypt spaces, we serve a large portion of the community. Woodlawn also continues to invest in the cemetery, by maintaining roads, planting new trees, caring for our older trees and upkeep of older sections. These important steps keep Woodlawn looking its best year round. Woodlawn continues to meet the needs of the community. We now have many burial and memorial options for families choosing cremation, while still developing additional options every year. Woodlawn is open every day of the year from sunrise to sunset. We encourage people to visit the cemetery to walk, run, bicyle, bird watch and to remember family and friends. Serving the public since 1881 continues to be our mission.
