Cremation Burial & Remembrance
Cremation has increased in awareness and acceptability in the past 20 years. People select cremation for a number of different reasons. For some, cremation is considered the last part of the funeral service. Others choose to have their remains buried in a cemetery like others who choose in-ground burial or above ground mausoleums.
Woodlawn believes it is important for every person to have a place where they can be remembered. If you or a family member wishes to be cremated, we encourage them to have a place in a cemetery where future generations can come and visit to learn about a family's history.
Woodlawn has a long tradition of assisting families with cremation burial and remembrance choices. From in-ground burial, to niches in a mausoleum or to a outdoor garden or to a cenotaph on a stone, Woodlawn can be of assistance.
In-ground Burial
Woodlawn's New Green Garden
Woodlawn is pleased to introduce the Green Garden. An outdoor setting for people choosing cremation. This landscaped area offers single and companion spaces with upright monuments. Also, a gazebo is located here for repose and remembering the people that are buried here and other places.

For information and a tour of the Green Garden, please call today at 315.479.5826 or email us now at info@woodlawnsyracuse.org.
In addition, cremated remains buried in-ground in other sections of the Cemetery. Cremated remains can be placed in a regular grave or in a small burial space designed just for cremation. The type of memorial varies as well as the location in the cemetery.
Niches
Niches for cremated remains are a small receptacle in a building or free-standing wall. The niche usually holds one or two cremated remains. The niches are covered with granite or marble that serves as the memorial. On the memorial, the names are either inscribed or are placed with bronze letters.
There are niches inside our Sunset Chapel Mausoleum or at our outdoor community mausoleum Garden of Peace. The prices vary depending on the number of remains and the height on the wall.
Pre-Planning
Life has chanllenges every day. Sometimes it allows us to plan for events. We plan for college, weddings and retirement. Why not plan where you will be buried? Not everyone can come to terms with this; however, there are reasons to plan this ahead of time.
If a death occurs, there are many decisions to be made in a short period of time. Many times, people have not discussed these issues. When a family pre-plans they can take the time to learn about the choices and costs. You can then share this information with your family, giving you peace of mind that your family knows your wishes.
Finally, purchasing the property and service fees can save money. Cemetery property usually increases in price every year. By purchasing before you need it, you have the opportunity to lock in the current prices and thereby saving money over the long term.
Woodlawn is pleased to offer pre-planning services to families. We will explain all the options availalbe to you and there are convenient interest free payment plans available. You can then share this information with your family, giving you peace of mind that family knows your wishes.
